Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonas Degutis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Adam Hayes! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Hayes. Those never looked like landing. Degutis lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Degutis. Some wild striking there from Degutis.
Degutis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hayes avoids it really well and circles away. Hayes looks like he wants to counter punch here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Degutis. Hayes is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonas Degutis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Degutis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hayes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Degutis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hayes paws at him with a jab and circles away. As Degutis backs off Hayes throws a huge counter combo but Degutis manages to avoid it all. Jonas Degutis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Degutis with a lazy takedown attempt letting Hayes counter with a right hand. Sloppy strikes from Degutis. Those never looked like landing. Hayes punishes Degutis's body with a nice straight punch. Degutis takes a body punch but keeps moving. Degutis is breathing heavily. Hayes lands with a nice combination. Degutis backs away looking to recover. Hayes circles away from the clinch attempt and Hayes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Degutis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hayes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Hayes is pawing at Degutis, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Degutis's nose. Degutis is badly hurt! Hayes pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Degutis tries desperately to hold on but Hayes is relentless in his assault! As Degutis receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Hayes away and this one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Adam Hayes! During a confident post fight interview, Adam Hayes thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
