Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Efren Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Thurmond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Efren Porter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Thurmond!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thurmond throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Porter half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Porter forces Thurmond back against the cage and clinches.
A right hand to the body from Thurmond.
Porter stalling in the clinch but Thurmond improves position.
Porter jumps guard but Thurmond stands there with Porter around his waist. Porter gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Porter tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Thurmond is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Porter can't fight it off and eventually Thurmond manages to take the fight to the floor. Porter looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Thurmond controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thurmond is looking to work some ground and pound but Porter has wrist control.

Thurmond throws an elbow that misses. Porter uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thurmond's guard. Nice move by Porter!
Thurmond has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Porter is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Porter fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Efren Porter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Porter is breathing heavily.
Porter blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Porter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Porter keeps control of Thurmond as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Thurmond pushes Porter back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Thurmond jumps guard and drags Porter to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Thurmond manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Thurmond works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Thurmond is trying to trip Porter. He has hold of a leg but Porter is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Thurmond persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thurmond works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Thurmond is taking a breather. Porter says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Porter wants to improve his position but Thurmond is controlling well.
Thurmond perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Thurmond stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Porter to get to his feet.

Thurmond closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Porter did well to prevent Thurmond getting side control.
Still in half guard, Thurmond seems content to control.
It looks like Thurmond might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Thurmond decides to return to a standing position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Porter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Thurmond jabs Porter to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Thurmond looks to land a combination but Porter avoids it well.
Thurmond closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Porter did well to prevent Thurmond getting side control.
Thurmond is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Come on Thurmond - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Thurmond presses Porter against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Thurmond has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Thurmond digs a right hand into Porter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Porter's gas tank.

Thurmond is leaning against Porter and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Thurmond has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Porter uses from the top position.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Thurmond. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Oooooh!!! Thurmond has knocked Porter down with a huge combo! Thurmond steps away and waves a wobbly Porter back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Oh Porter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Thurmond manages to break the clinch.
Joe Thurmond is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Porter get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Porter stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Thurmond runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
