Bateman's entrance music is Huey Lewis and The News - Hip To Be Square. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Bateman. Rutten does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rutten throws a big counter head kick but Bateman avoids it with no problem.
Bateman throws a lazy head kick
and Rutten cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rutten ducks under a wild hook from Bateman.
Bateman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rutten counters with a body kick.
Bateman misses the jab.
Rutten is looking for the big counter here.
A swing and a miss from Bateman.
Rutten steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Bateman. That one must have hurt.
Bateman sizes up Rutten with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Bateman explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bateman throws a predictable looking body shot
and Rutten connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bateman lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Bateman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rutten moves away.
Rutten follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Bateman looks for the body kick but Rutten saw that one coming.
Rutten appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Bateman works the jab nicely.
Bateman throws a head kick that misses.
Rutten throws a fast counter high kick but Bateman manages to duck under it in time.
Bateman throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bateman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rutten steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Bateman throws a lazy right hand but Rutten sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Rutten swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
We've been told by Bateman's head coaches at LOD: Black Label that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Rutten blocks a low kick nicely.
Bateman throws a head kick but Rutten moves out of range.
Bateman misses with an uppercut
and Rutten finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Bateman is breathing heavily.
Bateman keeps Rutten at a distance using the push kick.
Rutten lands a big head kick that sends Bateman tumbling to the mat! Rutten takes a step backwards and waves Bateman back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Patrick Bateman has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Rutten counters with a solid body kick.
Rutten throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rutten throws the kick towards the body but Bateman avoids it.
Rutten ducks under a wild hook from Bateman.
Rutten steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Bateman throws an overhand right that lands on Rutten's shoulder, as Rutten tries to avoid the shot.
Rutten throws a fast counter high kick but Bateman manages to duck under it in time.
Rutten moves out of range of the leg kick from Bateman.
Bateman misses with a left hand
and Rutten counters with a crisp right hand that drops Bateman! Rutten lets Bateman back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
A shot to the body from Bateman misses
and Rutten counters with a crisp right that sends Bateman to the canvas! Rutten follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sebastiaan Rutten!
A relieved looking Sebastiaan Rutten thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
