Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mak Markson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quinton King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinton King has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mak Markson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton King!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a head kick that misses.
Markson just misses with a punch to the body.
Markson wants to clinch.
Markson wants to clinch.

Markson gets a takedown into half guard.
Markson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

King looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
King tries to roll over but Markson keeps him under control.

King actively working from the bottom here.
King gets full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Markson trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
King has Markson pulled in close to control his posture.
King looks gassed!

King looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Markson passes into side control.
King tries to buck Markson off but Markson is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on King's face as Markson controls the position.
Markson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Markson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Markson tries to clinch but King is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Markson.
King tries to improve position but can't.
Markson controls the position.

Markson stands up and beckons King to his feet.
Markson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Markson scores with a crisp jab that stopped King in his tracks.
Markson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Markson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by King.
A head kick misses from King.

King gets caught flat footed, as Markson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

King has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Markson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
King is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Markson trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

King had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Markson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. King Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Markson's back instead.

King working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
King is trying to stick to Markson's back but Markson is turning into King. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in King's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Markson.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Markson looks for a takedown but King sprawls well.
Markson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but King swivels and escapes.
King throws an overhand right that lands on Markson's shoulder, as Markson tries to avoid the shot.
King swats away the attempt to clinch by Markson.
Markson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mak Markson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

King pushes Markson up against the cage in a clinch.

King breaks the clinch.
Markson fails in his attempt to clinch.
King shoots and misses
and King takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
King checks a leg kick nicely.
Markson fails with the takedown
and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mak Markson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Horrible takedown by Markson or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.

King drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

King is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
King throwing strikes from guard but Markson blocks nicely.

King drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Markson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now King has Markson in his guard.

Markson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on King, up you get!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

No luck for Markson with that takedown attempt.

King has Markson up against the cage in a clinch.
Markson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

King pulls guard.
Markson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Markson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Markson passes King's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

King moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

King keeping moving, preventing Markson from controlling successfully.

King has his foot on Markson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Markson works his way back into a safe position though.

King is looking for a triangle but Markson pushes his legs off easily.
Markson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

King is looking for a sweep. Markson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
King is refusing to be controlled, as Markson sits in half guard.

King wants to control but Markson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Markson prevents King from improving his position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
King wants to clinch.
King throws the left hand but Markson avoids the punch easily.
King tries to clinch but Markson is having none of it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Markson feints and as King raises his hands in defense, Markson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
King is trying to control the position from the bottom.

King has an active guard here but Markson has managed to pass into half guard.

Well, if Markson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
King gets back to full guard.
King keeping moving, preventing Markson from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mak Markson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


King misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Markson tries to clinch but King is having none of it.
Markson shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

King drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and King jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
King passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Markson is not content to let King control the position.

Markson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked King off and has taken his back!
King is in bad spot here.
Markson tries to keep control of the position but King is staying busy.

I really don't envy King right now.
Good control from Markson.
King manages to reverse the position and now he's in Markson's guard. Nice work there by King.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

King is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Markson wants to clinch but King slips to the side

and King counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Markson!

King swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Markson is now in King's guard. A big mistake from King there, giving up the dominant position!
Markson won't allow King to sweep him here.

King is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
King is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Markson keeps control of the position for the meantime.

King seems to be looking for submissions.

King is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Markson has managed to free his arm - good work.

King passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Markson!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
King trying to control but Markson is having none of it.
King sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Markson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Mak Markson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
King thowing shots but they're missing.
King trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Quinton King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Markson tries to reverse the position but King maintains control.

Quinton King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Markson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
