PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ben Stoned (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Avery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Avery!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery lands with a straight right. Stoned didn't see that one coming.

Stoned moves into the clinch.
Avery blocks an uppercut.
Stoned controlling the action here for a moment.
Stoned is pushing Avery up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Come on Stoned - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stoned's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Stoned looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ground and pound from Stoned.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Avery can do anything to dispel that myth.

Stoned is thwarting Avery's attempts to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stoned lands a nice short elbow.
Stoned throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Avery to regain full guard.
Avery wants to stand but Stoned is controlling the position.
Stoned is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stoned has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Avery wants to stand up but Stoned is controlling him.
Avery keeping moving, preventing Stoned from controlling successfully.
Stoned is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Avery tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Stoned slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Stoned works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Stoned working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Stoned tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Stoned is trying to get an arm triangle but Avery is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stoned trying to control the position but Avery is working away.

Stoned is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Avery is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Stoned tries to move into full mount but can't pass Avery's legs.

Stoned is trying to get an arm triangle but Avery is defending well.
Stoned taking a breather here.

Avery tries to buck Stoned off but Stoned is having none of it.
Avery really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stoned. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stoned working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Stoned controls the position.
Stoned working the body and head with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stoned looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Avery is avoiding damage well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stoned misses with the ground and pound.
Stoned throwing strikes but Avery manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Avery working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Avery bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Stoned's head.

Stoned rushes Avery and presses him up against the cage.
Stoned just leaning against Avery, taking a breather.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Avery.
We've been informed that Avery has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Stoned lands a left hand that snaps the head of Avery backwards.
Stoned is pushing Avery up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Avery is trying to break free.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Stoned.
Avery tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A head punch on the inside from Stoned fails to land.
Avery looking to stall.

The referee calls for Stoned to work.
Avery gets underhooks to prevent Stoned's takedown attempt.
Stoned prevents a takedown attempt there.
Stoned is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Avery can do to turn this around?
Avery is pressed up against the cage. Stoned has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Avery down to the mat. Avery avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Avery ducks under a wild hook from Stoned.
No joy there for Avery, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Stoned clinches with his opponent.
Stoned working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Stoned softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Avery is trying to push Stoned away but Stoned has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Avery.

A hook to the body from Stoned.
Avery blocks a body shot from Stoned.
Stoned changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Avery fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Stoned. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Avery lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A jab from Avery does it's job there.
Avery lands with an overhand left.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A looping hook to the body misses from Stoned. Avery does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stoned takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Stoned rushes Avery and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Stoned is working Avery over against the cage.
Avery tries for a takedown. No joy.
Stoned tries for a takedown but Avery manages to get underhooks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stoned lands a nice uppercut.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ben Stoned has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Stoned misses with some punches.
Stoned tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Stoned stops a takedown attempt from Avery.
Stoned makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Stoned throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Avery's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Stoned jumps guard and drags Avery to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Stoned looking for a triangle here. Avery is fighting it but it looks tight! Stoned pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Avery is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Ben Stoned!
