Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rex Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belfort kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Downfall. Rex Silva has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Belfort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rex Silva!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva moves in looking to clinch but Belfort pushes him off.

Belfort gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Silva avoiding damage as Belfort throws knees to the body.
Belfort is stalling here.

Belfort is trying to trip Silva. He has hold of a leg but Silva is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Belfort persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Belfort not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Silva wants to stand but Belfort is controlling the position.
Belfort trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Silva manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Belfort circles away from the clinch attempt

and Belfort counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.
Belfort trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva wants to stand up but Belfort is controlling him.
Belfort throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Silva is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Silva keeping moving, preventing Belfort from controlling successfully.
Belfort wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position.
Silva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Belfort stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.
Belfort seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Silva for as long as he can get away with.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Belfort scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Belfort stops Silva from getting back to his feet.

Silva pushes Belfort off and gets back to his feet.

Belfort clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the cage.
Belfort content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Belfort drags the fight down to the ground.
Belfort is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.
Belfort wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment.
Silva wanted to stand there but Belfort had control of the position.

Belfort controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Belfort is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Silva prevents Belfort from getting back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Silva tries to clinch

and Belfort counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Silva tries to kick Belfort off but Belfort keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Belfort thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Belfort trying to control the pace.
Belfort is just content to waste time from the top position. Silva takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Belfort dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Belfort shoots in for a double leg but Silva sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Silva closes the distance but Belfort moves to the side

and Belfort counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Silva pushes Belfort off looking to stand but Belfort dives back in and keeps control.
Belfort with the ground and pound but Silva uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Belfort looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Silva gets to his feet - Belfort follows without any prompting.

Belfort drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva wants to stand but Belfort is controlling the position.

Belfort looking to pass the guard.
Belfort prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.
Belfort slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Belfort trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Belfort sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Tim Belfort overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Belfort with a flurry of punches that miss.
Belfort is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silva tries to clinch but Belfort moves away

and Belfort counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Belfort.
Silva gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Belfort.
Belfort tries to score a body lock takedown but Silva shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Belfort. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Belfort has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Silva is trying to keep an underhook but Belfort manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Belfort is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.

Belfort looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Belfort thows a huge punch but Silva dodges it nicely.
Belfort scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Silva is looking to escape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Belfort.
Belfort is working Silva over with some ground and pound from side control.
Belfort cracks Silva with a big elbow.
Belfort looks up at the clock and then as Silva takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Belfort smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Belfort wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belfort slows the pace down.
Silva is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Belfort has just dragged him back down to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Belfort dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Belfort looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Silva wants to clinch but Belfort slips to the side
and Belfort counters with a series of strikes. Silva will be more careful next time no doubt.

Belfort is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Belfort is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Silva is trying to stand up here but Belfort is controlling him well.

Silva has one foot on Belfort's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Belfort throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Belfort off to one side.

Belfort closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Silva pushes Belfort off looking to stand but Belfort dives back in and keeps control.
Belfort is controlling the pace.
Belfort thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Silva's head.
Silva is trying to stand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Belfort lands strikes from half guard.
Silva tries to kick Belfort off but Belfort keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Well, if Belfort is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Silva wants to get back to his feet.

Belfort works his way into full mount!
Belfort tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Silva is trying to stand.
The referee warns Silva that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva wants to try and get back to his feet.
Belfort dominating with strikes here.
Belfort trying to control but Silva is having none of it.
Belfort controlling from the full mount.
Rex Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tim Belfort is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Tim Belfort showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Belfort has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
