Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ganbaatar Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan comes to the cage accompanied by Bad Seed - Watch It Burn. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ganbaatar Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan throws a sloppy head kick and Patterson moves out of range easily.
Patterson is looking to clinch but Khan is avoiding it.
Khan swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Khan tries a head kick but it misses.
Khan jabs Patterson right on the nose. Patterson blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Derek Patterson has been cut.
Khan loads up on a big right hand but Patterson slips the punch.
Patterson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Patterson moves away from the strike by Khan.
Patterson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Patterson takes one on the button.

Patterson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Khan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Patterson lands a couple of elbows.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Khan wants to stand but Patterson is controlling the position.
Khan wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Patterson manages to pass to side control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Patterson lands a nice short elbow.

Patterson stops Khan from getting back to his feet.
Patterson is looking to take a break and control but Khan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Khan pushes Patterson off looking to stand but Patterson dives back in and keeps control.
Khan trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Patterson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Khan keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ganbaatar Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan looks to land a right hand but Patterson moved out of range.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Khan - that will leave a mark!

Patterson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Khan but Khan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Patterson tries to clinch up.
We've been informed that Patterson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Khan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Patterson feints the counter takedown.
Khan missing with a left hand there. Patterson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Patterson wants to counter with a clinch but Khan pushes him away.
Patterson avoids the head kick by Khan.
Sloppy strikes from Patterson. Those never looked like landing.
Patterson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Khan stuns Patterson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Crunch! Khan slams his shin into Patterson's torso.

Khan throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Patterson scores with a takedown into Khan's guard.
Khan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Khan tries to get out of the position.
Patterson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Khan wants to stand and escape but Patterson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Patterson advances position into side control!
Khan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Khan explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Patterson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Khan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Patterson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Patterson somewhat.
Ganbaatar Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Khan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ganbaatar Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Patterson.
Khan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Khan connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Khan lands with a kick to the temple. Patterson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Khan! Patterson is out on his feet! Khan rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Patterson is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Patterson is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ganbaatar Khan!
During a confident post fight interview, Ganbaatar Khan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
