PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jules Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilhelm Tegetthoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilhelm Tegetthoff will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wilhelm Tegetthoff!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Jules Griffin has been cut.

Tegetthoff drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Griffin pushes Tegetthoff off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Tegetthoff shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Griffin as he avoids it easily.
Tegetthoff closes the distance and clinches up with Griffin, looking for a takedown. Tegetthoff pushes Griffin against the cage but Griffin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tegetthoff tries to pull guard but Griffin won't allow it.
Jules Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilhelm Tegetthoff.
Griffin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tegetthoff smiles and moves away.
Tegetthoff dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Griffin. That did some damage!

Tegetthoff is trying to pull guard but Griffin has him pressed against the cage.
Tegetthoff goes for a takedown attempt but Griffin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Tegetthoff goes for a takedown in the clinch but Griffin prevents it.

Griffin has hold of one of Tegetthoff's legs. Tegetthoff is fighting the takedown attempt but Griffin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Griffin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tegetthoff goes for a double leg but Griffin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Griffin continues to drive forward.

Griffin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Griffin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Tegetthoff throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Griffin's waist but Griffin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tegetthoff off to one side.

Griffin moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Tegetthoff pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Griffin back to the cage. Tegetthoff follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Tegetthoff goes for a double leg but Griffin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Griffin continues to drive forward.
Griffin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tegetthoff can do to turn this around?

Griffin wants the takedown. Tegetthoff is fighting it off but Griffin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tegetthoff's guard against the cage.

Griffin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tegetthoff has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Griffin has managed to get both his arms back between Tegetthoff's legs - danger averted.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jules Griffin will probably get the nod.

Horrible takedown attempt by Tegetthoff or perhaps it was just good defense by Griffin, which made it look bad.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Griffin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tegetthoff for as long as he can get away with.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Griffin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
