Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Josef Hanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carran Pettigrew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pettigrew is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by La Marseillaise -Song of France. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josef Hanson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carran Pettigrew! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettigrew lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Pettigrew rushes Hanson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Pettigrew is trying to pull guard but Hanson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Hanson just leaning against Pettigrew, taking a breather. Hanson jumps guard but Pettigrew turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Hanson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hanson has hold of one of Pettigrew's legs. Pettigrew is fighting the takedown attempt but Hanson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Pettigrew is trying to control the position but Hanson postures up. Hanson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hanson throwing strikes from guard but Pettigrew blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pettigrew is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettigrew throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hanson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pettigrew controlling from the top position. Pettigrew throwing strikes from guard but Hanson blocks nicely. Pettigrew with a flurry of punches that miss. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hanson is wriggling around but Pettigrew manages to pass to half guard.
Pettigrew is stalling here. Hanson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Pettigrew seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hanson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Pettigrew is trying to control Hanson's posture but Hanson avoids it. Pettigrew managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hanson.
Hanson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pettigrew has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hanson but great work by Pettigrew. Pettigrew tries to move to mount but Hanson blocks the move with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pettigrew just content to control the position. Hanson is trying to control Pettigrew's posture but Pettigrew avoids it. Pettigrew is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hanson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Pettigrew working the strikes but Hanson uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hanson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pettigrew is working away from the top position though. Hanson is staying active underneath Pettigrew, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pettigrew missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Pettigrew is controlling the pace.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pettigrew wants to take a breather but Hanson is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hanson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pettigrew defends it well.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Pettigrew jabs Hanson right on the nose. Hanson blinks but takes it well. Pettigrew closes the distance and clinches up with Hanson, looking for a takedown. Pettigrew pushes Hanson against the cage but Hanson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Hanson tries to close the distance and clinch but Pettigrew swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hanson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pettigrew did well to prevent Hanson getting side control. Pettigrew kicks off Hanson and gets to his feet. Pettigrew has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Hanson shoots in and bounces Pettigrew off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pettigrew has Hanson pulled in close to control his posture. Hanson is looking to stand up but Pettigrew won't let him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pettigrew had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hanson defends it easily. Pettigrew working a defensive guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanson postures up and lands a big shot to Pettigrew's brow. Pettigrew is looking to stand up but Hanson isn't so interested in that idea. Hanson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Pettigrew has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Hanson has passed into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pettigrew wants to control but Hanson postures up. Hanson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Pettigrew turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Hanson off and cradles Pettigrew's limp body as Hanson celebrates with his corner.
