Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mees Metsast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Brown has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mees Metsast! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, John Brown! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Metsast. Metsast throws a poor cross that misses
and Brown counters with a single leg into guard. Metsast didn't expect that. Metsast has his foot on Brown's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Brown works his way back into a safe position though. Brown throwing strikes but missing. Brown with a flurry of punches that miss. Metsast has Brown pulled in close to control his posture. Brown stopping the sweep attempt from Metsast. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brown trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brown advances to half guard. Brown missing with the ground and pound from half guard. My spies in The Gym inform me that Brown has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Brown goes for a double leg but Metsast avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Metsast continues to drive forward. Metsast walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Brown checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Brown swinging wildly here.
Metsast leaves Brown with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Brown looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Metsast swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Mees Metsast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Brown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Metsast stuffs the takedown. Metsast throws the kick towards the body but Brown avoids it. Brown has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Metsast throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Metsast gets caught flat footed, as Brown shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown is working Metsast over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Brown is pushing down on Metsast's leg trying to pass to half guard. Metsast is fighting to maintain full guard but Brown has managed to sneak the leg through. Metsast has hold of Brown's hands but Brown slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Brown sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Metsast defending well though. Brown seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Brown working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Metsast's thigh. Metsast moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Brown prevents Metsast from getting back to his feet. Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Metsast swivels though and keeps the full guard. Metsast will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Brown postures up in Metsast's guard and throws a big left but Metsast blocks it. Brown won't allow Metsast to sweep him here. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Metsast throws a jab but it's blocked by Brown. Metsast steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Brown. Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Metsast avoids it really well and circles away. Metsast looks to land a left hand but Brown moved out of range nicely. John Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. It looks like John Brown has been cut. Mees Metsast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Brown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brown fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Metsast shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side. Metsast throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Metsast looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

The fighters circle momentarily. Metsast darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Brown shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Metsast as he avoids it easily. Brown misses with a takedown attempt and Metsast counters with a straight punch to the midsection. A nice inside leg kick there by Metsast. That's going to slow Brown down. Metsast pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Metsast sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat. Metsast looks to score with a jab to the body but Brown is just out of range. Brown changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Metsast throws a head kick that misses and Brown counters with a nice double leg into guard. John Brown is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown postures up in Metsast's guard and throws a big left but Metsast blocks it. Brown's corner is telling him to maintain position. Let's hope that Brown has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Metsast working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brown doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brown manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Brown closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Metsast did well to prevent Brown getting side control. Brown keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
