Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hironobu Uematsu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Randall Flagg! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Uematsu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Flagg throws a hook to the side of Uematsu's head but Uematsu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Uematsu looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Flagg swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Uematsu tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Flagg has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Uematsu throws a leg kick but Flagg sees it coming and moves out of range. A little jabbing left from Flagg on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Uematsu throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Flagg sees it coming and avoids it easily. Flagg bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Uematsu swings widly with a right hand
and Flagg counters with a left to the body. That kick from Uematsu tenderised Flagg's leg. Flagg is trying to keep his angry face on. Uematsu cracks the inside of Flagg's front leg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice cross by Flagg. Flagg is looking to clinch. Uematsu lands with a good body shot. Uematsu has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Hironobu Uematsu has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Uematsu throws a nice outside leg kick. Flagg tries to bum rush Uematsu with a series of wild strikes but Uematsu uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Flagg ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Uematsu throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Flagg looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Uematsu just misses with a punch to the body.
Uematsu motions for Flagg to come forward. Uematsu throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Flagg tries to clinch but Uematsu is having none of it. Uematsu throws out a loose jab but Flagg uses good head movement to avoid it. Flagg uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Uematsu. Flagg misses the jab. A slapping leg kick lands for Uematsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Uematsu throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Flagg counters with a lovely straight right hand! Flagg on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Flagg looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Uematsu scores with a hook to the body. Flagg takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Uematsu misses with a left hand and Flagg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Flagg uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Uematsu. It seemed like Flagg was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Uematsu uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Flagg. Flagg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Uematsu swats him away and circles back towards the center. Uematsu scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Uematsu scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Flagg misses the body punch and Uematsu counters with a slapping leg kick. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Uematsu, as that shot connected.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Flagg scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Uematsu throws a sloppy body shot
and Flagg counters with a stiff right hand. Uematsu connects with the punch. Uematsu throws a leg kick that misses. Flagg looks like he wants to counter punch here. Uematsu scores with the left hand. Flagg knows he should have avoided that one. Uematsu takes a swing at Flagg's ribcage but misses. Uematsu pivots, looking for a leg kick but Flagg is out of range and Uematsu settles back down. It seemed like Flagg was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Uematsu connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Uematsu slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Nice defenses there by Flagg. Flagg unleashes a big counter combination but Uematsu bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Flagg misses with a body punch
and Uematsu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Uematsu throws a low kick but Flagg moves out of range easily. Flagg doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Uematsu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Flagg counters with a three punch combo that has Uematsu backing up. Uematsu nods at Flagg to acknowledge the strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Flagg ducks under a wild hook from Uematsu. Uematsu misses with a low kick as Flagg jumps back. Uematsu misses with a few strikes there.
A swing and a miss from Uematsu. Flagg throws out a counter right but Uematsu avoids it with no problem. Uematsu jabbing away but nothing is landing. Flagg lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Flagg. Uematsu scores with a hook to the body. Flagg takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Uematsu cracks Flagg with a good jab. Uematsu throws a wild combination but nothing lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hironobu Uematsu dominated that round. The cut man is working on Hironobu Uematsu's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Uematsu missing with a left hand there. Flagg was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Uematsu circles away from the clinch attempt.
Uematsu stalks Flagg and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Flagg's face. Flagg staggers backwards, shaken. Uematsu misses with a low kick.
As Uematsu backs off Flagg throws a huge counter combo but Uematsu manages to avoid it all. Uematsu looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hironobu Uematsu is winning the standup battle so far. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Flagg crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Uematsu - the referee stops the clock and Flagg gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Uematsu. Flagg manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Hironobu Uematsu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Uematsu misses with a hook
and Flagg counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Uematsu swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Flagg. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flagg throws a hook but Uematsu avoids it easily. Nice shot lands for Flagg. Flagg might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Flagg takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Flagg takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Uematsu misses with a leg kick. Uematsu throws a body shot but no joy. Flagg displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Uematsu throws out the jab. Uematsu jabbing away but nothing is landing. Uematsu throws an off balance right hand
and Uematsu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Uematsu uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Uematsu is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Uematsu misses with a leg kick. A punch combination from Uematsu misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Flagg is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Uematsu. Uematsu swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Flagg comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Flagg moves out of range of the strikes. Flagg scores with a nice head shot. Uematsu tries to land a body kick and Flagg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Uematsu is rocked!
Hironobu Uematsu's cut is getting worse. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Uematsu gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Flagg gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Uematsu is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Randall Flagg!
