Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Suarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick Lawler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Suarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A right-left combo lands from Lawler.

Lawler looking to score a takedown here. Suarez is defending well but Lawler drives through and ends up in Suarez's guard.
Suarez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Lawler dives into side control.

Suarez is trying to escape the position but Lawler is controlling the position.
Suarez wants to get back to his feet but Lawler is dominant here and he's now got Suarez's back!

Lawler is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lawler is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Suarez is defending well though. Lawler let's go of the attempt for now.
Suarez wants to get back to his feet.

Suarez tries to clinch up but Lawler circles away and keeps his distance.
Jim Suarez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Suarez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lawler walks away with a smile on his face. Suarez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Suarez throws a big counter combination but Lawler scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Suarez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Suarez wants to stand but Lawler is controlling the position.

Lawler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suarez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Suarez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lawler uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Lawler misses with a jab, cross combination.
A quick step to the side and Suarez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Suarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Suarez is working Lawler over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Suarez is fighting to break Lawler's control of his arms but Lawler is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Patrick Lawler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Suarez.

Lawler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Suarez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Suarez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lawler is controlling him well.

Suarez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Suarez is refusing to be controlled, as Lawler sits in half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Lawler rushes Suarez and presses him up against the cage.
Lawler blocks a body shot from Suarez.
Lawler has had enough of the clinch but Suarez keeps him there for the moment.

Suarez gets control of Lawler's arms and successfully pulls guard. Suarez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Suarez wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Lawler is now in half guard.

Lawler perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Suarez is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Suarez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lawler fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Suarez has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Lawler has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jim Suarez showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Lawler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
