Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Player (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devil Jho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Player comes to the cage accompanied by Kevin Gates feat. August Alsina - I Don't Get Tired. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gary Player!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Devil Jho!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jho pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Player looks to land a left hand but Jho moved out of range nicely.
Jho is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Jho throws the left hand but Player avoids the punch easily.
Jho lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jho walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Player scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Player throws a jab but it's blocked by Jho.
A clash of legs there as Player blocks the low kick.
Devil Jho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jho throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Player uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jho.
Jho jabbing away but nothing is landing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Player goes for a double leg but Jho avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jho continues to drive forward.

Player uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jho.

Player is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Jho.
Jho throws a solid leg kick but Player takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Jho.
The fighters circling - Player throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Player feints and then cracks Jho's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jho down.
That kick from Player tenderised Jho's leg. Jho is trying to keep his angry face on.

Jho throws out a leg kick but Player moves out of range and Jho only half commits.

Jho throws a body shot but no joy.
No joy there for Jho, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Player moves into the clinch.
Player makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
I was talking to Player's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Jho fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jho lands with a short shot to the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Player creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
A body shot lands from Player.
Jho drops down looking for an ankle pick but Player pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jho throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Jho throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Player is looking to counter the offense by Jho and move into the clinch.
Player misses with a head kick.
Player takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Horrible takedown attempt by Player or perhaps it was just good defense by Jho, which made it look bad.
Player dives in for a single leg takedown but Jho sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Player lands with a thumping leg kick.
Jho throws a good cross that connects.
Player pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Player scores with a nice head shot.
A lazy left from Player finds it's target.
Jho misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Player.
As Jho tries to get set, Player tries to push him back and clinch up but Jho manages to avoid the attempt.
Jho shoots for a double leg takedown but Player sprawls well. He's pushed Jho's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

No joy there for Jho, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jho steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Player. That one must have hurt.
Player avoids a punch combination nicely.
Player lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Jho ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Jho scores with a jab. Player acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gary Player will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Player uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jho has time to react.

Player shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jho sprawls well. Jho wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Player gets slowly back to his feet.

Player doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Player on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Player shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jho manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Player content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Player is stalling here. Jho is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Player seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jho has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gary Player will probably get the nod.

Jho keeps Player at a distance using the push kick.
Jho feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Players jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Player closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jho quickly recovers to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Player looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Player is looking to take a break and control but Jho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Jho escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Player gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Player stands up over Jho, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Player works over Jho with some ground and pound from guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Player's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Player wants to pass the guard but Jho is keeping the position.
Player pushes down on Jho's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jho keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Player lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Player lands strikes from half guard.
Player seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jho does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Player wants to control but Jho is keeping him busy.

Gary Player showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Player, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
