Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Acelino Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Great Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm. Bob is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Grandpa. Acelino Alves has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Acelino Alves!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Great Bob!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bob rushes Alves and presses him up against the cage.
Alves wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bob misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Alves.
Bob prevents the takedown attempt.
Bob tries to land knees in the clinch but Alves avoids the damage to the body.
Alves has Bob pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bob manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Bob, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Bob against the cage but Bob circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Acelino Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bob throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Bob throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alves shoots for a double leg takedown but Bob sprawls well. He's pushed Alves's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alves is breathing heavily.

Bob gets caught flat footed, as Alves shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Bob will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bob swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bob throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Alves wants to work for an arm triangle but Bob is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bob misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Alves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bob is just riding it out for now. Alves eventually gives up the hold.
Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bob keeps working.
Alves tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bob knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Bob has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alves is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bob misses with a head kick.
Bob tries to land a front kick but Alves steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Alves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bob's waist but Bob gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side.

Alves shoots in looking for a takedown. Bob tries to sprawl out of it but Alves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bob manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alves has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Bob clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves has the hooks in. Bob is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Alves is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bob is defending well though. Alves let's go of the attempt for now.

Alves is trying to stick to Bob's back but Bob is turning into Alves. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Alves's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bob.

Alves looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bob has picked Alves up and slammed him! Alves can't keep hold of the triangle and Bob manages to pass to side control!
