Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wang Yu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thorwald Govandekal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wang Yu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thorwald Govandekal! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yu looks to clinch letting Govandekal counter with a right hand. Govandekal leaves Yu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Govandekal shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Govandekal is looking to advance position but Yu won't allow it. Govandekal is taking a breather. Yu says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yu wants to get back to his feet. Govandekal looks to land a strike but Yu avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Govandekal won't allow Yu to sweep him here. Govandekal is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yu wants to get back to his feet but Govandekal is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Yu lands a high kick!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Govandekal looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Govandekal moves into the clinch. Govandekal breaks from the clinch.
Govandekal gets tackled into the cage by Yu. Yu maintains the clinch. Govandekal manages to pull guard.
Govandekal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Yu preventing the sweep. Yu passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Yu stops Govandekal from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Govandekal manages to get to full guard.
Govandekal is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Yu lands a couple of elbows. Govandekal keeping moving, preventing Yu from controlling successfully. Yu throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Govandekal works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Govandekal looking for a sweep. Not yet Govandekal, not yet. Yu missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Govandekal is pulling down on Yu's head. It's preventing any offense from Yu, at least for the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Yu tries to clinch there but Govandekal circles away.

Yu chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Govandekal can pounce on him.
Yu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Govandekal as he jumps to the side. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Govandekal misses with a head kick.
Yu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Govandekal defends it nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thorwald Govandekal dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Govandekal drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yu wants to get back to his feet but Govandekal drags him back down. Yu is looking to regain half guard here but Govandekal keeps moving and retains side control. Yu takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Govandekal decides to stand back up. Govandekal steps back and let's Yu get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Yu with a lazy takedown attempt and Govandekal counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Govandekal working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Govandekal working some strikes from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Govandekal decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Yu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Govandekal. Govandekal throws a wild body kick that Yu sees coming a mile off. Yu has a takedown stuffed. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Yu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Govandekal but Govandekal pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wang Yu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Yu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Govandekal appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Govandekal lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Govandekal drives through with a takedown into guard. Govandekal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yu swivels though and keeps the full guard. Govandekal stands up over Yu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Govandekal works over Yu with some ground and pound from guard. Govandekal keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Yu's head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Govandekal stays in close to Yu's body and controls the position. Govandekal working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Yu's head. Govandekal slips nicely into half guard. Govandekal is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yu sees it coming and defends easily. Thorwald Govandekal has got the better of the ground game so far. Govandekal keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Govandekal has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Govandekal trying to mount his opponent but Yu defends it. Govandekal is trying to work for a kimura but Yu is defending well.

This could be trouble! No, Yu has managed to free his arm - good work. Yu wants to control but Govandekal is keeping busy.
Govandekal has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Govandekal avoids the attempt from Yu to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thorwald Govandekal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Govandekal has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Govandekal closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Yu explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Yu pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Yu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Yu keeping full guard, as Govandekal tries to pass. Yu has momentary wrist control but Govandekal slips an elbow through the middle. Govandekal is in close to Yu's body, working some short punches and elbows. Govandekal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Yu is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Govandekal looking to pass the guard. Govandekal with a nice head shot there. Govandekal showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Yu is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Govandekal not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Govandekal passes easily into side control. Nice work. Wang Yu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Govandekal is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Yu's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that's the end of the fight! Thorwald Govandekal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Govandekal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
