Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sven Dufva! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
27 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Noam Chomsky! The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dufva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Chomsky keeping control of the position. Chomsky trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Chomsky blocking the ground and pound. Dufva thowing shots but they're missing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chomsky is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Dufva looking to control but Chomsky is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dufva cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's one minute gone in the round. Dufva looking to finish with strikes here!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dufva with good strikes from the mount here! Dufva landing strikes from the mount and Chomsky is in trouble! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dufva throwing strikes here but Chomsky is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Chomsky wants to control but Dufva is having none of it. Dufva is in the full mount, landing strikes. Chomsky in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Dufva tries to control but Chomsky wriggling away. Dufva is landing with some decent strikes but Chomsky is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dufva landing punches. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dufva scoring with strikes but Chomsky is staying in there.
Chomsky is rocked! Chomsky tries to hold on but Dufva pushes him away. Chomsky is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Chomsky taking shots to the head. A big strike lands for Dufva! That's really hurt Chomsky and he's turned his back - Dufva keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Dufva jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sven Dufva! Sven Dufva retains his welterweight title! Our winner, Sven Dufva, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans. In defeat, Noam Chomsky stepped up to the mic, saying 'If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.'.
