Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodolfo Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McGuire might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Five Finger Death Punch - Jekyll And Hyde. Mike McGuire has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGuire keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Newton shoots in and bounces McGuire off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Newton slips nicely into half guard.
McGuire is controlling Newton's trapped leg to prevent Newton from advancing to side control.
Newton wants to pass to mount but McGuire is defending the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newton is looking for a kimura but McGuire is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Newton to get the leverage.
McGuire tries to get to full guard but Newton has control of the leg.

McGuire keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Newton's head.
Newton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGuire doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGuire manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Newton wants to sweep but no luck.
McGuire chips away with some ground and pound.
McGuire stays in close to Newton's body and controls the position.

McGuire has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
McGuire wants to take a breather but Newton is having none of it.
