PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Holohan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kesuke Miyagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holohan comes to the cage accompanied by Come out and Fight. Miyagi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Your'e The Best Around. Kesuke Miyagi acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Holohan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 50 - 13 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kesuke Miyagi!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Eddie Farnsworth and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyagi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Holohan drops down looking for a counter takedown but Miyagi sprawls and moves away.
Holohan has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Miyagi.
Miyagi lands a head kick. Holohan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Miyagi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Miyagi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Holohan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Miyagi quickly recovers to half guard.
Holohan is keen to just control but Miyagi is a slippery customer.
Holohan prevents Miyagi from standing back up.
Holohan is looking to advance position but Miyagi won't allow it.
Miyagi wants to get back to his feet.

Holohan is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Miyagi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Holohan.
Miyagi is trying to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miyagi is refusing to be controlled, as Holohan sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miyagi pushes Holohan off looking to stand but Holohan dives back in and keeps control.

Holohan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Miyagi wants to get back to his feet.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Holohan seems to be looking for submissions.
Miyagi pushes Holohan off looking to stand but Holohan dives back in and keeps control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Holohan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Miyagi to the ground. Holohan is now in Miyagi's guard.
Holohan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miyagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Holohan is working hard here to advance position.
Miyagi wants to stand up but Holohan is controlling him.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Holohan stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Miyagi.
Holohan looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A solid leg kick lands there for Miyagi.
A nice leg kick lands there from Miyagi.
Miyagi feints and then cracks Holohan's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Holohan down.
Holohan shoots in looking for a takedown but Miyagi manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Holohan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miyagi throws a sloppy head kick and Holohan moves out of range easily.
Holohan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nice sprawl there from Miyagi as Holohan shoots in.
Holohan lands a jab to the head.
Holohan avoids the head kick by Miyagi.
Miyagi lands with a kick to the temple. Holohan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Holohan tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Miyagi finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kesuke Miyagi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miyagi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miyagi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Holohan has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Miyagi.
No luck for Holohan with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kesuke Miyagi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Holohan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Holohan showed some decent athleticism there.

Miyagi has one foot on Holohan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Miyagi thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Holohan if he has to take too many more of those.
Miyagi stuffs the takedown.
Miyagi tries a quick counter leg kick but Holohan is wise to it.
Holohan is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Miyagi connects with a high kick.


Holohan is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Miyagi throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Oh Holohan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Miyagi throws a powerful right kick. Holohan tried to block low but the kick was high! Holohan was taken right off of his feet! Miyagi jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Kesuke Miyagi!
Kesuke Miyagi thanked the fans post fight for their support.
