Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veke Purha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jiu Jitsu: Vai Finaliza!. Veke Purha has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ramon Gracie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ramon Gracie! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Veke Purha! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Purha throws a sloppy body shot
and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Purha fights it but they end up in guard. Purha looking to control.
Purha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Gracie works a leg free and moves into half guard. Gracie is taking a breather. Purha says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Gracie sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Purha defending well though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie tries to pass the half guard into mount. Purha knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Purha keeps working. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.
Purha is trying to get back to full guard. Gracie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gracie takes Purha's back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. I would not like to be Purha right now.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Purha trying to control but not successfully. Gracie is trying to stick to Purha's back but Purha is turning into Gracie. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gracie's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Purha. Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gracie trying to control the position.
Gracie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Purha is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Gracie controlling Purha's posture. Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Purha defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Purha postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Purha is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Purha stands up over Gracie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
It looks like Ramon Gracie has been cut. My spies in Team Migraine inform me that Purha has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Purha is proving a slippery customer.
Purha keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gracie's head. Gracie seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Purha makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Purha has his hands clasped together but Gracie extends and breaks Purha's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gracie.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ramon Gracie! Ramon Gracie retains his welterweight title! A victorious Ramon Gracie thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
