Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Runar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hughes might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Pixies - Where is my mind?. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Joseph Hughes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Runar Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hughes is thwarting Nelson's attempts to control the position.

Hughes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nelson is just riding it out for now. Hughes eventually gives up the hold.
Hughes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hughes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nelson has managed to free his arm - good work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nelson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hughes uses his free foot to push down on Nelson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nelson.
Nelson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nelson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hughes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nelson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Hughes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes is in the full mount, landing strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hughes lands a big elbow - Nelson is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Nelson is forced to tap out!
