PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dax Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Dax Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roberto Kim!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller misses with a wild body shot.
A nice inside leg kick there by Miller. That's going to slow Kim down.

Miller shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Miller throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kim on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Miller prevents Kim from improving his position.
Kim is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kim is trying to maintain the position but Miller is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kim is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kim has his foot on Miller's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Miller works his way back into a safe position though.

Miller postures up in Kim's guard and throws a big left but Kim blocks it.

Miller advances to half guard.
Miller looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kim with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kim is trying to get back to full guard.
Miller is trying to control. Kim wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kim is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Miller thows a huge punch but Kim dodges it nicely.

Kim lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Kim wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position.
Miller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Kim moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Miller thumps Kim with a low kick.
Miller catches Kim with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Miller wants to land a leg kick but Kim is out of range.
Kim is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Miller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Crunch! Kim slams his shin into Miller's torso.
Kim goes for a double leg but Miller avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Miller continues to drive forward.
Miller swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Kim throws a looping overhand right but Miller ducks down to avoid it.
It looked like Miller was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kim.
Miller blocks a head kick by Kim.

Miller clinches up with Kim and pushes him back against the cage.
Kim blocks a body shot from Miller.
Kim lands a shoulder strike.
Kim tries for a takedown but Miller manages to get underhooks.
Kim has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Miller avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Dax Miller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Kim.

Miller is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kim can do to turn this around?

Kim blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Kim is trying to pull guard but Miller has him pressed against the cage.

Kim changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Miller fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Miller is looking to take a break and control but Kim is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kim keeps working.
Kim gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Dax Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Miller looks to land a strike but Kim avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Kim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kim is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Miller defends well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kim had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Kim misses with an uppercut. Miller saw that one coming.
Miller is looking to counter the offense by Kim and move into the clinch.
Miller takes a swing at Kim's ribcage but misses.
Miller lands with a kick to the ribs.
Kim tries to score with a low kick but Miller moves his leg out of the way.
Kim throws the left hand but Miller avoids the punch easily.
Kim misses with a kick to the body.
Kim keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Kim takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kim goes for a double leg but Miller avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Miller continues to drive forward.

Kim takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kim moves forwards but Miller connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Miller throws a head kick but Kim moves out of range.
Kim shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kim takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Kim shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Miller sprawls well. Miller wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kim gets slowly back to his feet.
Kim pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Kim throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Miller counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Miller connects with a body shot that sends Kim's belly button to the back.
Roberto Kim has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Miller steps into range and cracks Kim with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Kim flops backwards and Miller dives into his guard looking to finish!


Kim is rocked!


It looks like Roberto Kim has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Miller controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kim is still in real trouble! Can Miller finish him?
Miller gets to his feet and stands over Kim, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Kim felt that one! Miller unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Kim from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dax Miller!
Dax Miller very nearly forgot to thank Milwaukee's Best 160 (80% laundry) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
Roberto Kim spoke after the fight, saying 'HOOOODOOR!'.
