Down is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Let's Go. The key to victory for James Van Der Sluijs has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Van Der Sluijs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kendrik Down!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Down finds it's target.
Down missing with a left hand there. Van Der Sluijs was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Van Der Sluijs throws a counter high kick but Down was just alert enough to avoid it.
Kendrik Down seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Down closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Van Der Sluijs quickly recovers to half guard.

Van Der Sluijs manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Down keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Van Der Sluijs misses with a hook from the clinch.

Down pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Down pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Van Der Sluijs back to the cage. Down follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Van Der Sluijs takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Down wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Down has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Van Der Sluijs is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Down goes for a double leg but Van Der Sluijs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Van Der Sluijs continues to drive forward.

Down throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Van Der Sluijs was covering up waiting for the punch and Down finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Van Der Sluijs is looking to stand up but Down isn't so interested in that idea.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Down accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Down controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Down keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Van Der Sluijs's head.
Down stays in close to Van Der Sluijs's body and controls the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Down shoots for a takedown but Van Der Sluijs saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Van Der Sluijs thinks about countering with a body kick.

and Van Der Sluijs counters with a nice low kick that buckles Down's knee momentarily.

Down fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Van Der Sluijs manages to avoid it.

and Van Der Sluijs counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Van Der Sluijs gets caught napping as Down dives in and scores a takedown. Van Der Sluijs manages to retain guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

As Down looks to move away, Van Der Sluijs throws a big counter combo but Down just gets out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Down throws out a loose jab but Van Der Sluijs uses good head movement to avoid it.

Down throws a hook but Van Der Sluijs blocks it.
Van Der Sluijs looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

It looks like Van Der Sluijs has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Down throws a lazy right hand but Van Der Sluijs sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Down shoots and misses
and as Down loses concentration momentarily, Van Der Sluijs counters with a picture perfect head kick! Down goes down, out cold! The referee rushed in to check on his condition - I'm sure he'll be ok but that was a massive knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). James Van Der Sluijs!
James Van Der Sluijs very nearly forgot to thank Sin City Allstars amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
Kendrik Down was interviewed post fight and said 'Don't Worry about it!!!'.
