PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trevor Valencia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micheal Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corbett has chosen friday as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Trevor Valencia has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Trevor Valencia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Micheal Corbett!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corbett buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Corbett thows a leg kick but Valencia checks it

and Valencia counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Corbett!
Corbett tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Valencia won't let Corbett get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Corbett is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Valencia with a couple of short strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You get the feeling that Corbett really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Valencia is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Corbett has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Corbett!

Corbett gets to his feet. Valencia looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Corbett throws a leg kick

and Valencia counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Corbett wants to get back to his feet but Valencia is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Valencia is standing up over Corbett. Corbett looks to escape but Valencia dives into side control.
Corbett tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Corbett bucks Valencia off and manages to get back to his feet!
Valencia really is a fat lump.

Valencia clinches up against the cage.

Corbett misses with a short punch on the inside.

Valencia breaks the clinch.

Valencia tries to keep at a distance but Corbett has taken the fight into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Corbett breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Valencia decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Corbett's guard.

Corbett pushes Valencia off and gets back to his feet.
Corbett misses with a looping right.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Valencia checks a leg kick.
Corbett throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Valencia counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Corbett!
Corbett looks winded!

Valencia looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Corbett tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Valencia. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Corbett trying to get back to his feet but Valencia is in full control for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Trevor Valencia will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Corbett gets tackled into the cage by Valencia. Valencia maintains the clinch.

Corbett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corbett fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Valencia is out of range.
Valencia shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Corbett sprawls well. Corbett wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Valencia gets slowly back to his feet.

Corbett misses with a wild combination.
Valencia attempts a counter takedown but Corbett avoids it well and moves away.
Corbett is looking to slow Valencia down with leg kicks.
Micheal Corbett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Corbett fails to land with a series of punches.

Valencia gets tackled into the cage by Corbett. Corbett maintains the clinch.
Valencia is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Corbett to keep the fight standing.

Valencia manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Corbett decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Valencia, up you get!
Corbett throws a right and a left that Valencia avoids nicely.
Valencia went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Corbett is breathing heavily.
Corbett is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Valencia dives into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Valencia is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Corbett taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Valencia.
