Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Halloway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Williams!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halloway closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Williams's guard.
Williams is looking to stand up but Halloway isn't so interested in that idea.
Halloway controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Halloway has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Halloway stops Williams from standing up.

Williams working for submissions but it's allowed Halloway to get to half guard.
Halloway takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams.
Williams wants to sweep here but Halloway controlling him for the moment.
Halloway might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Williams wants to improve his position but instead Halloway has moved into half guard.
Williams felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Ground and pound from Halloway.
Halloway lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Halloway is taking a breather. Williams says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Williams is holding on to half guard well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Halloway connects with a nice short shot to Williams's temple.

Halloway has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Halloway is nestled in close to Williams, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Halloway tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Williams.
Halloway is figuring out what he wants to do next.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Halloway.
Williams pushes Halloway off looking to stand but Halloway dives back in and keeps control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Williams shoots in and drives through. Halloway sprawls well.
Halloway keeps the fight on the outside.
Williams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Williams tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Williams throws a looping overhand right but Halloway ducks down to avoid it.
Halloway throws a sloppy head kick and Williams moves out of range easily.
Mike Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams misses with a takedown attempt - Halloway sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jeff Halloway has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Williams.

Williams throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Halloway.
Halloway keeps the fight on the outside.

Halloway rushes Williams and presses him up against the cage.

Halloway bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Williams's guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Williams wants to hit a switch here but Halloway passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Williams there!

Williams cracks Halloway with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Williams shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Halloway is trying to defend but Williams finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Halloway is refusing to be controlled, as Williams sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Halloway here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Halloway wants to control but Williams is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Williams is looking to control Halloway's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Williams avoid being mounted?

Williams tries to kick Halloway off but Halloway keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jeff Halloway is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Williams sizes up Halloway with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Halloway seems to be working for a kimura but Williams defends the submission attempt.
Halloway working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Halloway. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Halloway frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Williams is just holding on here. Halloway manages to take his back.

Halloway seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
