Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Necktie on that attempt.
Necktie fails to land the takedown.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith has hold of Necktie's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Necktie manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Necktie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Necktie.
Smith throws and elbow that misses. Necktie uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Smith's guard. Nice move by Necktie!

Necktie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Necktie turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Smith is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Necktie has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Smith tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Smith is trying to buck Necktie off.
Kellen Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Smith wants to control but Necktie postures up.

Smith feints and as Necktie raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Necktie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Necktie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Necktie throws a big right hand that misses.
Necktie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Necktie, into his guard.
Necktie is trying to hold Smith in close to prevent damage but Smith has managed to pass into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
