Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Rubey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Asko Vilenius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Asko Vilenius has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Rubey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Asko Vilenius!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubey shoots for a takedown but Vilenius saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Vilenius! But no joy.
Rubey dives in for a single leg takedown but Vilenius sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Rubey misses with a takedown attempt
and Vilenius connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Chris Rubey has been cut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Rubey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vilenius lands with a good body shot.

Rubey closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Vilenius did well to prevent Rubey getting side control.

Vilenius kicks Rubey off and gets back to his feet.

Vilenius utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rubey tries to advance to mount but Vilenius denies him.

Rubey somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Vilenius is trapped and Rubey is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Rubey is not going to allow Vilenius to sit and survive in this position.
I really don't envy Vilenius right now.

Rubey is persistently looking for the submission but Vilenius is defending it well.

That was a close round but I would say that Chris Rubey will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Vilenius, as that shot connected.
Rubey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vilenius is fending him off so far but Rubey persists. Nope, Vilenius circles away and we're back to standing.
Vilenius lands with a hook. Rubey tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Vilenius defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rubey.
Vilenius looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Rubey pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Asko Vilenius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch lands to the side of Rubey 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Vilenius throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rubey on the side of the head.
Rubey avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Rubey attempts a counter takedown but Vilenius avoids it well and moves away.

Vilenius shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rubey but Rubey pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Rubey counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vilenius won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A relieved looking Asko Vilenius thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
