Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Olajide Adepeju! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jim Cahill! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cahill darts in and clinches Adepeju up against the cage. Adepeju manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Adepeju could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Cahill pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Cahill fails with a takedown attempt. Cahill circles away from the clinch attempt and Cahill decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Adepeju's guard. Cahill is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Adepeju knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cahill on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Adepeju is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adepeju being controlled here, momentarily. Cahill is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Cahill is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cahill preventing the sweep. Cahill gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Adepeju fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cahill avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
As Adepeju backs off Cahill throws a huge counter combo but Adepeju manages to avoid it all. Adepeju gets tackled into the cage by Cahill. Cahill maintains the clinch. Adepeju fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Cahill prevents a body shot from Adepeju. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Cahill has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Adepeju uses from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cahill pulls Adepeju in close to prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cahill bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Adepeju's guard. Cahill slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Cahill thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cahill gets to his feet. Adepeju looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Adepeju gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Cahill's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Cahill manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Cahill pulls Adepeju in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cahill looking for a triangle here. Adepeju is fighting it but it looks tight! Cahill pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Adepeju is tapping out - this one is all over!
