PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cranky Toni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maurice Zulu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toni is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Toni fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Zulu slaps away a takedown attempt from Toni, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Zulu drives through with a takedown into Toni's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zulu postures up and lands a big shot to Toni's brow.
Toni bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Zulu's guard.

Zulu is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Toni is controlling him.

Zulu wriggles free and stands up.
Toni shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zulu but Zulu pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cranky Toni. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Toni tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Zulu appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Zulu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zulu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Toni circles away quickly and effectively.
Toni moves in looking to clinch but Zulu pushes him off.

Zulu has Toni up against the cage in a clinch.
Zulu tries to pull guard but Toni forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Toni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Zulu closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Toni's guard.
Zulu with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Zulu controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Toni working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zulu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zulu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Toni is looking to stand up but Zulu isn't so interested in that idea.
Toni might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Zulu is in close to Toni's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Toni is breathing heavily.

Toni controls Zulu momentarily but Zulu frees himself.

Zulu keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Toni's head.
Zulu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Zulu is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Zulu distracts Toni with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Toni could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Zulu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Toni swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Zulu is in close to Toni's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Zulu controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Zulu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Zulu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Zulu postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Toni is rocked!
Zulu gets to his feet and stands over Toni, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Toni felt that one! Zulu unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Toni from any more punishment!
