Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Jim Hogan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe McJoe! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McJoe drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. McJoe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. McJoe is still trying to improve position. Hogan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. McJoe passes Hogan's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hogan tries to get to full guard but McJoe has control of the leg. Hogan won't allow McJoe to pass to mount. McJoe works his foot free and advances to mount. McJoe is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hogan is surviving well by controlling McJoe's body position as best he can. McJoe looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. McJoe is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hogan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McJoe jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hogan manages to avoid the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. McJoe has knee on belly and moves into mount. McJoe swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hogan is now in McJoe's guard. A big mistake from McJoe there, giving up the dominant position! McJoe looking to sweep here. No luck so far. McJoe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hogan's guard. Hogan keeping full guard, as McJoe tries to pass. McJoe passes into half guard. Hogan is looking to control McJoe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hogan avoid being mounted? McJoe passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. McJoe working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. McJoe goes for an armbar but Hogan turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hogan. Hogan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. This has been an exciting period of action! McJoe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hogan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hogan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. McJoe is looking to sweep but instead, Hogan has passed into half guard.
McJoe wants to get back to full guard but Hogan has mounted him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hogan controlling from mount. McJoe really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
McJoe gets back to half guard. McJoe tries to roll over but Hogan keeps him under control. McJoe works his way to full guard. Good work. McJoe should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. McJoe wants to hit a switch here but Hogan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for McJoe there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. McJoe is looking to get to half guard. McJoe sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. McJoe looking for submissions from an awkward position here. McJoe tries to roll over but Hogan keeps him under control. McJoe is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hogan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hogan's back! McJoe is cranking Hogan's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Hogan! He's tightened the choke and Hogan is tapping out!
