Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jonathon Alvarado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Yagin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eddie Yagin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathon Alvarado! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddie Yagin! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yagin doesn't succeed with the takedown and Alvarado counters with a stiff right hand. Yagin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Yagin tries for a takedown but Alvarado circles away easily and Alvarado counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Yagin tries to kick Alvarado off in order to stand up. Alvarado Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Alvarado is trying to get an arm triangle but Yagin is defending well. Yagin is trying to escape the position but Alvarado is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarado working the head with strikes. Yagin being controlled for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarado tries to score with some ground and pound. Yagin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Yagin avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Alvarado. Alvarado happy to just control the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Alvarado working the head and body with strikes. Alvarado trying to control the position but Yagin is working away. Alvarado scoring with punches from side control. Alvarado stands up and we're back to a striking position. Alvarado has managed to clinch.
Alvarado has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Yagin has Alvarado pressed against the cage, preventing Alvarado from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvarado is trying to break the clinch but Yagin is controlling him. Alvarado breaks from the clinch.
Yagin fails with a takedown attempt. Alvarado tries to counter by clinching up but Yagin breaks away and moves out of range. Jonathon Alvarado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Yagin. Alvarado lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Alvarado forces Yagin back against the cage and clinches. Alvarado breaks the clinch.
Yagin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alvarado's waist but Alvarado gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Yagin off to one side. Alvarado appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Alvarado shoots in for a takedown but Yagin shows good takedown defense. Yagin appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarado shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Yagin kicks Alvarado off and gets back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Yagin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Alvarado to score an easy takedown into full guard. Alvarado is standing up over Yagin. Yagin looks to escape but Alvarado dives into side control.
Alvarado has control of an arm but Yagin manages to advance to Alvarado's back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonathon Alvarado dominated that round. That's time! Alvarado's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Alvarado fails in his attempt to clinch. Alvarado keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Yagin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alvarado sprawls well. Alvarado wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Yagin gets slowly back to his feet. Alvarado feinted with a counter takedown. Alvarado shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yagin but Yagin pushes him off and we're back to square one. Yagin wants to counter with a clinch but Alvarado pushes him away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarado shoots in and bounces Yagin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Alvarado trying to control the position from guard on top but Yagin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Yagin is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarado showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Yagin wants to control but Alvarado passes easily into half guard.
Alvarado wants to take a breather but Yagin is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jonathon Alvarado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Alvarado thows a huge punch but Yagin dodges it nicely.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yagin tries for a takedown but Alvarado circles away easily and Alvarado counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Jonathon Alvarado has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eddie Yagin. Alvarado drags the fight down to the ground.
Alvarado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Alvarado is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Yagin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Yagin stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Alvarado has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Yagin manages to get his head free but now Alvarado has transitioned to an armbar! Yagin grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Alvarado! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
