Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rich Solomon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Benson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Rich Solomon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Karl Benson! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Solomon doesn't manage to clinch there - Benson circles away.
Benson lands with a good body shot. Benson takes the fight into the clinch. Solomon can't get the takedown.

Benson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Benson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Solomon can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Benson controls the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Solomon swivels though and keeps the full guard. Solomon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Benson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Solomon's guard. Benson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Benson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Solomon pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Benson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Benson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Solomon's half guard. Solomon is looking to control Benson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Solomon avoid being mounted? Benson trying to control the pace. Benson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Benson not doing much here.
Solomon taking some punishment here, with Benson in his half guard. Benson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Benson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Benson is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Solomon as he works his way to full guard.
Benson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Solomon's head. Benson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Benson lands a couple of elbows. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Benson wants to get up but he can't break Solomon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Benson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Karl Benson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Benson scores with a hook to the body. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Benson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Solomon uses from the top position. Benson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Benson wants to stand up but Solomon is controlling him. Solomon lands a couple of elbows. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Solomon being controlled here momentarily. Benson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Benson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Solomon's guard. Solomon has momentary wrist control but Benson slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Benson lands a couple of digs. Benson stays in close to Solomon's body and controls the position. Solomon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Solomon really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Benson controlling from the top position. Let's hope that Benson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Benson wants to get up but he can't break Solomon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Benson wants to pass the guard but Solomon is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benson advances position into side control! Karl Benson has got the better of the ground game so far. Benson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Solomon is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Benson is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Benson is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Benson!
