Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome Greer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Ryan! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Greer, pushing him back against the cage. Ryan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Greer lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
It looks like Matthew Ryan has been cut. Ryan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Greer just stands there and leans against the cage. Greer has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ryan regains guard immediately. Greer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Greer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Greer decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greer clinches up with Ryan and pushes him back against the cage. Greer lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Greer sitting and controlling from the half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Greer content to control rather than advance. Greer looks to score some points with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Greer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ryan won't be happy with that. Greer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ryan can do to turn this around? Greer controls the position. Greer working the head and body with strikes. Greer decides to stand back up. Greer steps back and let's Ryan get back to his feet. Greer takes the fight into the clinch. Greer has Ryan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Greer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ryan tumbling to the mat - Greer dives into Ryan's guard. Ryan is wriggling around but Greer manages to pass to half guard.

Greer is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Greer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Greer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Greer lands strikes from half guard. Greer postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ryan to stand up. Greer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ryan's guard.

Further stalling from Greer. Greer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ryan's head. Greer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ryan, up you get! Greer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Greer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Greer is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Greer is stinking the place up with his stalling. Greer working over Ryan with some ground and pound. Ryan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Greer escapes and gets back to his feet. Greer closes the distance and pushes Ryan back into the cage. Greer gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Greer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee will not allow him to do that for long. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
