PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clarence Pennington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dakota LeJame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). LeJame has chosen God, if you are above as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Clarence Pennington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dakota LeJame!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LeJame decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pennington gets back to full guard.

Pennington is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
LeJame not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
LeJame trying to control the position from guard on top but Pennington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pennington looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
LeJame is looking to work some ground and pound but Pennington has wrist control.
LeJame wants to control from the top but Pennington keeps moving.

Pennington working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. LeJame doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. LeJame manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

LeJame seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
LeJame trying to control the position from guard on top but Pennington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pennington is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and LeJame defends well.
LeJame throws a big right hand that misses.
LeJame scoring with punches to the head and body.
Pennington can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as LeJame controls the pace.
LeJame distracts Pennington with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
LeJame controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pennington keeping moving, preventing LeJame from controlling successfully.

Pennington looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pennington is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

LeJame closes the distance and clinches.

LeJame gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Pennington on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Pennington looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Pennington is trying to maintain the position but LeJame is very close to passing his half guard.

LeJame has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
LeJame with good strikes from the mount here!
Pennington takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Pennington is trying desperately to improve position.
LeJame lands a nice shot to the head.
LeJame trying to control but he's not successful this time.

LeJame looking to secure an arm triangle but Pennington defends it well.
Pennington is looking to get to half guard.

LeJame controlling from mount.
Pennington regains half guard.
LeJame throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pennington is trying to maintain the position but LeJame is very close to passing his half guard.
Pennington tries to get to full guard but LeJame has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakota LeJame dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



LeJame shoots in and gets a takedown into Pennington's guard.
LeJame working some strikes from top position.
LeJame in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
LeJame working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Pennington working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from LeJame.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pennington is on top in guard.


Pennington decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

LeJame fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pennington to the ground. LeJame is now in Pennington's guard.

Pennington is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Pennington escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. LeJame gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pennington is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. LeJame is aware though and is defending well.
LeJame trying to control the position from guard on top but Pennington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

LeJame gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

LeJame feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dakota LeJame has got the better of the ground game so far.
LeJame wants to control from the top but Pennington keeps moving.
LeJame is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

LeJame looking to sit in guard and control but Pennington gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pennington trying to control the position from guard on top but LeJame is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
LeJame has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

LeJame manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Pennington stalling in the clinch.
LeJame tries to land knees in the clinch but Pennington avoids the damage to the body.

LeJame pulls Pennington into guard.

Pennington gets to his feet. LeJame looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Pennington drives through with a takedown into guard.

LeJame has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Pennington is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

LeJame ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. LeJame no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Pennington content to stall in guard here.

Pennington gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Pennington moves into the clinch successfully.

Pennington works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Pennington stands and steps away. LeJame gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

LeJame fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pennington sprawls well initially but LeJame persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

LeJame is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pennington doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time LeJame.

Pennington wants to control but LeJame is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Pennington is not content to let LeJame control the position.
Pennington is looking for a sweep. LeJame is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
LeJame thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
LeJame takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
LeJame prevents Pennington from improving his position.
LeJame is keen to just control but Pennington is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dakota LeJame showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Pennington is looking to clinch.
Pennington swinging wildly here.

Pennington drives through with a takedown into LeJame's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

LeJame is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Pennington presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

LeJame gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pennington is not content to let LeJame control the position.
LeJame winds up and cracks Pennington with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pennington has hold of LeJame's hands but LeJame slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
LeJame is looking to take a break and control but Pennington is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pennington is trying to get back to full guard.
LeJame tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pennington knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
LeJame takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Pennington tries to roll over but LeJame keeps him under control.
LeJame frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
LeJame content just to control the position here.
The referee warns Pennington that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pennington is trying to escape the mount.
LeJame lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

LeJame is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pennington can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

LeJame tries to control but Pennington wriggling away.
Pennington is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pennington is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

LeJame swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pennington is now in LeJame's guard. A big mistake from LeJame there, giving up the dominant position!

LeJame is working an open guard so Pennington takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Dakota LeJame is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Pennington throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. LeJame was covering up waiting for the punch and Pennington finishes the takedown easily into guard.

LeJame has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Pennington is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

LeJame has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pennington regains guard immediately.
LeJame in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Dakota LeJame comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got LeJame winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
