The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Styles wants to slow Palms down by chopping away at his legs.
Styles goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Styles lands with a good body shot.
Palms throws a looping overhand right but Styles ducks down to avoid it.
Palms takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Styles wants to clinch.
Palms appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Styles misses with a few strikes there.
Styles falls off balance throwing a combination
and Palms counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Styles!

Palms wants to lay and pray for a moment but Styles keeps working.
Palms is trying to get an arm triangle but Styles is defending well.
Styles is trying to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Styles can do anything to dispel that myth.
Styles is letting Palms control him for a moment.
Palms passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Styles!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Palms takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Palms's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Styles is squirming around, avoiding Palms's attempts to control the action.
Palms working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Styles looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Palms! Submission of the night perhaps?
