The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brett shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in KarelinPalmeiras's guard.
Brett pushes down on KarelinPalmeiras's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Brett connects with a nice short shot to KarelinPalmeiras's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You can see the frustration on KarelinPalmeiras's face as Brett controls the position.

Brett connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused KarelinPalmeiras some visible discomfort.
Brett is trying to get an arm triangle but KarelinPalmeiras is defending well.
KarelinPalmeiras is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Bloodsport Gym 16 Elites that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
KarelinPalmeiras manages to work his way to half guard, despite Brett's best efforts.
Brett takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

KarelinPalmeiras knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brett on the ground.

Let's hope that Brett has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
