Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rodolfo Cinotti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Velasquez! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cinotti avoids the body shot from Velasquez.
Cinotti slips under a jab. Velasquez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Velasquez's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cinotti under the eye. Cinotti takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
It looks like Rodolfo Cinotti has been cut. Velasquez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Velasquez missing with a left hand there. Cinotti was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Velasquez throws a body punch but Cinotti moves out of range. Nice defenses there by Cinotti. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Velasquez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Cinotti. Cinotti misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Cinotti is looking to slow Velasquez down with leg kicks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cinotti is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Velasquez. A solid leg kick lands there for Cinotti.
Velasquez darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Velasquez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. John Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Velasquez connects with a crisp jab. Cinotti closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cinotti connects with a nice short shot to Velasquez's temple. Cinotti takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Cinotti tries to pass to full mount but Velasquez defends it. Cinotti is looking for a kimura but Velasquez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cinotti to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nice strikes from Cinotti there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cinotti looks to land a strike but Velasquez avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Velasquez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cinotti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cinotti throws an elbow that misses. Velasquez uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cinotti's guard. Nice move by Velasquez! Velasquez won't allow Cinotti to sweep him here. Cinotti manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Velasquez manages to get himself to full guard.
Cinotti chips away with some ground and pound. Velasquez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cinotti with a flurry of punches that miss. Cinotti drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cinotti jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Cinotti working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Cinotti postures up in Velasquez's guard and throws a big left but Velasquez blocks it. Cinotti postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cinotti scoring with punches to the head and body. Cinotti is looking to work some ground and pound but Velasquez has wrist control. Cinotti postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Cinotti is looking to work some ground and pound but Velasquez has wrist control. Cinotti trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom. Cinotti throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Velasquez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Velasquez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cinotti in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cinotti lands a couple of elbows. Cinotti keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Velasquez's head.
Velasquez is rocked! Cinotti gets to his feet and stands over Velasquez, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Velasquez felt that one! Cinotti unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Velasquez from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodolfo Cinotti!
