Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tonino Barile! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eric Walker! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barile throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Walker blocks a head kick by Barile.
Eric Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Walker tries to land a body kick so Barile counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Barile looking to pass the guard. Walker wants to stand up but Barile is controlling him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barile is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barile wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving. Barile drops back looking for a leg! Walker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Walker manages to kick Barile off! Barile jumps back into Walker's guard. Barile passes easily into side control. Nice work. Barile tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Barile thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barile looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Barile goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Walker rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Barile's guard! Nice work there by Walker!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Barile isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Walker stacks Barile on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Walker! Barile tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Walker presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Barile is looking to improve his position but Walker isn't that keen on the idea. Walker wants to control the pace but Barile is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barile tries to lock up and control but Walker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Barile is trying to escape the mount.
Barile looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Barile rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Barile is staying active underneath Walker, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Barile looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Barile gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barile looking for a triangle here. Walker is fighting it but it looks tight! Barile pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Walker is tapping out - this one is all over!
