The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gombrowicz fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Waqa checks it well.
Gombrowicz has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gombrowicz there as he acknowledges the shot.
Waqa lands a jab to the nose.

Waqa scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Gombrowicz manages to mount him!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Waqa is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Gombrowicz off. It looks like it's working - Gombrowicz slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Waqa displaying calm under pressure there.

Gombrowicz shoots for a double leg takedown but Waqa sprawls well. He's pushed Gombrowicz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
It looked like Waqa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

A punch lands to the side of Gombrowicz 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Gombrowicz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Waqa looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Waqa throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Baron Waqa will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
