The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes misses with a double jab.
Hughes swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ruffman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hughes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Hughes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Ruffman sneaks out the side door and pushes Hughes away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Hughes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hughes wants it to stay on the feet.
Hughes throws a series of punches but Ruffman avoids them all with ease.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ruffman is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hughes connects with a decent elbow.

Hughes has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ruffman's face.

Hughes lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Ruffman is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes lands a big elbow.

Ruffman is in a horrible position here. Hughes smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ruffman is rocked!
Hughes lands a couple of good shots and Ruffman has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Oh Ruffman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hughes lands strikes from the back and Ruffman isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.
