Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Felix Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Felix Anderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jay Smith! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Anderson scores with a kick to the midsection. Anderson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily. Anderson dives in and scores a takedown into Smith's guard. Smith wants to sweep but no luck. Anderson tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom. Anderson works a leg free and moves into half guard. Anderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Anderson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith tries to get to full guard but Anderson has control of the leg. Anderson is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson wants to stand up but Smith has a hold of him and won't allow it. Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Anderson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Smith gets back to half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Anderson connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple. Smith pushes Anderson off looking to stand but Anderson dives back in and keeps control.
Smith looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Anderson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson stalling. Anderson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Smith defends it well. Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Anderson wants to get back to his feet.
Anderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Smith is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Anderson pulls his head out easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson tries to stand and escape but Smith actually recovers to full guard. Anderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Anderson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Smith can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Anderson controls the pace.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Smith misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Anderson.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Anderson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Anderson. Smith tries to clinch up but Anderson circles away and keeps his distance. Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Anderson, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Anderson against the ropes but Anderson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Anderson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Anderson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Anderson defends it nicely. Felix Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Smith. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Anderson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Anderson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Smith regains guard immediately. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Smith looks to land a combination but Anderson avoids it well. The fight moves into the clinch position. Anderson breaks from the clinch.
Smith wants to clinch up but Anderson keeps it at a distance. We've been informed that Smith has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Anderson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Anderson in particular looking to stall. Anderson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith is not content to let Anderson control the position. Anderson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Anderson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smith's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Anderson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith is looking to improve his position.
Anderson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Smith misses with some strikes from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Anderson is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Smith moves into range and clinches up with Anderson. Smith has hold of one of Anderson's legs. Anderson is fighting the takedown attempt but Smith gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Anderson is trying to control the position but Smith postures up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Anderson is on top in guard.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Anderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well. Anderson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Smith is looking for a triangle but Anderson pushes his legs off easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Anderson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smith thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Anderson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well. Smith is breathing heavily. Anderson stands up from guard. Let's bang! Anderson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Jay Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Anderson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Anderson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Anderson taking a breather here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith regains half guard. Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around? Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Anderson is working away from the top position though. Smith is looking to improve his position.

Anderson ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Anderson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Anderson controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself. Anderson is controlling Smith's posture. Anderson wants to sweep but no luck. Anderson is striking but Smith is not phased and passes to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Anderson connecting with a few gentle strikes. Anderson wants to improve his position but Smith is controlling well.
