Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kola Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shelton Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kola Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shelton Petersen!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petersen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Martinez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Martinez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Petersen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Martinez, into his guard.

Petersen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Martinez is pulling down on Petersen's head to control his posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez is trying to keep Petersen in close.
Petersen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Petersen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Martinez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Martinez wants to sweep here but Petersen controlling him for the moment.
Martinez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Petersen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Martinez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Petersen with a flurry of punches that miss.
Petersen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Martinez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Martinez gets to his feet. Petersen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Martinez forces Petersen back against the cage and clinches.

Martinez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Petersen uses from the top position.
Petersen wants to stand and escape but instead Martinez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Martinez stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Petersen moves into the clinch.

Petersen pulls guard effortlessly.

Martinez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Petersen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Martinez has Petersen in his guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Petersen is looking to work some ground and pound but Martinez has wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martinez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Petersen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Martinez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Martinez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Martinez is trying to keep Petersen in close.
Martinez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Martinez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Martinez slips nicely into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Martinez tries to pass to full mount but Petersen defends it.
Martinez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Petersen is in all sorts of trouble here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Petersen is squirming around, avoiding Martinez's attempts to control the action.
Petersen is trying to reverse the position but instead Martinez has taken his back - oops!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kola Martinez dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Martinez throws a sloppy head kick and Petersen moves out of range easily.
Petersen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Martinez defends well and Petersen ends up having to push Martinez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Martinez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Petersen can do to turn this around?

Martinez stands up from Petersen's guard - Martinez perhaps looking for a knockout.
Martinez throws a leg kick
and Petersen counters with a two punch combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez throws a hook but Petersen blocks it.
Petersen throws a shot to the body.

Martinez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Petersen on his heels. He'll look to pass Petersen's guard now, I'm sure.

Petersen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Petersen is breathing heavily.

Martinez stands and steps away. Petersen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Martinez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Petersen wants to stand but Martinez is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martinez working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Martinez trying to control the position from guard on top but Petersen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Petersen working for a triangle but Martinez defends it easily.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Martinez stands up from Petersen's guard - Martinez perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Martinez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Petersen circles away quickly and effectively.

Martinez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Petersen quickly recovers to half guard.
Martinez lands a big elbow - Petersen is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Martinez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kola Martinez!
