Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mirko Filipovic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Rodri!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodri shoots for a takedown but Filipovic saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Filipovic could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rodri shoots for a double leg takedown but Filipovic sprawls well. He's pushed Rodri's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rodri has managed to clinch.
Filipovic tries a knee to the head but Rodri blocks it.
Filipovic has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rodri after a bit of a struggle.
Filipovic is working for takedown but Rodri is calmly controlling the position for now.
Rodri wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Filipovic has him pressed against the cage.
Filipovic goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Filipovic works on Rodri's body with a couple of short punches.
Filipovic has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Filipovic is pressed up against the cage. Rodri has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Filipovic down to the mat. Filipovic avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mirko Filipovic has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Rodri.

Rodri darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Filipovic pushes Rodri off and gets back to his feet.
Filipovic tries for a takedown but Rodri sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Filipovic lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rodri takes a step back to recover.
Rodri tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Filipovic swivels and escapes.
Rodri throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Filipovic shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rodri sprawls well. Rodri wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Filipovic gets slowly back to his feet.

Rodri darts in looking for a takedown but Filipovic gets double underhooks and turns Rodri into the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rodri has managed to clinch.

Filipovic throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Rodri wants to get back to striking at distance but Filipovic won't allow it.
Filipovic tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rodri just stands there and leans against the cage.
Filipovic tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rodri smiles and moves away.
Filipovic shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rodri as he avoids it easily.
Rodri throws a big counter head kick but Filipovic avoids it with no problem.
Filipovic is breathing heavily.
Rodri dodges the punch combination from Filipovic.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Filipovic slips a jab and a cross from Rodri.
Filipovic tries to clinch but Rodri is having none of it.
Rodri is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Filipovic's half guard.
Rodri prevents Filipovic from improving his position.
Rodri looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rodri wants to control but Filipovic is keeping him busy.

Rodri seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Filipovic has recovered full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Filipovic is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rodri postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mirko Filipovic will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rodri rushes Filipovic and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rodri has Filipovic pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rodri pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Filipovic tumbling to the mat - Rodri dives into Filipovic's guard.
Filipovic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rodri loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Filipovic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rodri wants to get up but he can't break Filipovic's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Filipovic had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rodri defends it easily.
Filipovic working for a triangle but Rodri defends it easily.
Rodri must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rodri postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Filipovic is working an open guard so Rodri takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Filipovic fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rodri throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Filipovic's waist but Filipovic gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rodri off to one side.
Nice sprawl there from Rodri as Filipovic shoots in.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rodri lands a big head kick that sends Filipovic tumbling to the mat! Rodri takes a step backwards and waves Filipovic back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Filipovic is rocked!
It looks like Mirko Filipovic has been cut.
Rodri is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Filipovic flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Filipovic is out cold! Rodri holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
