Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ismail Saidov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rekis comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Thunderstruck. Saidov has chosen Shamhan Daldaev - Eto Kavkaz as his entrance music. John Rekis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rekis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ismail Saidov! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rekis lands with a shot to the body. Saidov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rekis napping and manages to drive through into side control! Saidov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rekis keeps working. Rekis is trying to control Saidov's posture but Saidov avoids it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Saidov controlling the position from side mount. Saidov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rekis is trying to get back to half guard. Rekis wants to control but Saidov postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rekis is not content to let Saidov control the position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Rekis wants to control but Saidov postures up. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Saidov working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Saidov takes a little break here. Rekis wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Saidov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Rekis is trying to buck Saidov off. Rekis is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Den of Tears (22 coaches), so we'll see if he gets out of it. Rekis is looking for a sweep. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Rekis leaves Saidov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Rekis is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Saidov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Rekis counters with a left and a right that stings Saidov. Nice takedown defense from Rekis. No joy for Saidov on that attempt. Rekis went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Rekis clinches with his opponent.
Saidov turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Saidov manages to end up in side control. Rekis can't do much from the bottom here. Rekis is trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saidov controlling the position from side mount. Rekis is looking to regain half guard here but Saidov keeps moving and retains side control. Saidov taking a break here but Rekis is having none of it and regains half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rekis wants to get back to his feet.
Rekis moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Rekis keeping moving, preventing Saidov from controlling successfully. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rekis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that John Rekis will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Saidov throws a right hand that Rekis ducks under and follows up with a left that Rekis also avoids with ease. Rekis appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Saidov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rekis on his heels. He'll look to pass Rekis's guard now, I'm sure. Rekis keeping moving, preventing Saidov from controlling successfully. Rekis is adopting a defensive guard. Saidov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Saidov wants to take a breather but Rekis is having none of it.

Rekis keeps control of the position for the meantime. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Rekis manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Saidov with a poor takedown and Rekis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Saidov misses with a combination

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rekis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Rekis has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Saidov! Saidov tries to hold on but Rekis pushes him away. Rekis is landing with some decent strikes but Saidov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Ismail Saidov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Saidov is trying to escape the mount.

Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Saidov is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rekis is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Saidov is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Saidov flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Rekis anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Saidov and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Rekis slips an arm under Saidov chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Rekis has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Rekis is squeezing on Saidov like an anaconda would it's prey. Saidov fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
