The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vertongen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Vertongen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Smith lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Vertongen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the ropes.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Vertongen as Smith tries to tie him up.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Smith blocks a body shot from Vertongen.

With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Vertongen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Smith can't find room to land a body shot as Vertongen controls the action.

Vertongen lands a hook to the side of the head.
Smith tries a body shot but Vertongen blocks it.
Vertongen lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
Vertongen looking to throw knees to the head but Smith is blocking nicely.
Smith stalling in the clinch but Vertongen improves position.
Vertongen lands a hook that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Smith is trying to maintain a safe position but Vertongen gets an underhook and turns Smith into the ropes.

Vertongen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vertongen looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Vertongen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Vertongen tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith misses with a wild combination.
Vertongen tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Smith manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Vertongen looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Smith tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Vertongen manages to circle out of the way.
Smith throws a big shot that misses.
Vertongen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Vertongen moves out of range of the strikes.
It seemed like Vertongen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Smith swings for the body but Vertongen moves out of range.
Vertongen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smith misses with a wild body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vertongen tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Smith is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nice uppercut lands for Vertongen. That snapped Smith's head back.

Smith gets tackled into the ropes by Vertongen. Vertongen maintains the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Vertongen lands a left hand that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vertongen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Smiths head.


Smith is rocked!
Vertongen scores with a hook to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jan Vertongen dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Oh Smith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smith drops his guard momentarily, allowing Vertongen to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Smith! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Vertongen takes it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Jan Vertongen!
