Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Evangelos Ergazakis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucas Veigne! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ergazakis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Veigne, pushing him back against the cage. Ergazakis stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Ergazakis has Veigne pushed against the cage. Ergazakis lands a right hand. Ergazakis has Veigne pressed against the cage.
Ergazakis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ergazakis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Ergazakis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Veigne really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ergazakis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ergazakis has his foot on Veigne's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Veigne works his way back into a safe position though. Ergazakis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Veigne's guard. Ergazakis wants to control from the top but Veigne keeps moving. Ergazakis drops back looking for a leg! Veigne is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Veigne manages to kick Ergazakis off! Ergazakis jumps back into Veigne's guard. Ergazakis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Veigne can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ergazakis controls the pace. Ergazakis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Ergazakis throwing strikes but missing. Ergazakis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Veigne is keeping the position for now. Ergazakis passes Veigne's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Ergazakis wants to control but Veigne is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ergazakis throwing shots but Veigne is blocking nicely. Ergazakis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Veigne is just riding it out for now. Ergazakis eventually gives up the hold. Veigne felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Ergazakis is thwarting Veigne's attempts to control the position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ergazakis wants to control but Veigne is keeping him busy. Ergazakis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Veigne blocking the ground and pound. Veigne really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ergazakis lands a big elbow. Ergazakis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ergazakis working for a submission but Veigne is keeping him at bay. Ergazakis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ergazakis trying to control but Veigne is having none of it. Ergazakis working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Veigne turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Ergazakis off and cradles Veigne's limp body as Ergazakis celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Evangelos Ergazakis! Lucas Veigne was interviewed post fight and said 'I am so sorry to all my fans. I will win next time!'.
