The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newlett throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Newlett avoids the head kick by Kennedy .
Kennedy checks the leg kick nicely there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Newlett. Kennedy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kennedy darts in looking for a takedown but Newlett gets double underhooks and turns Kennedy into the cage.
Newlett was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Newlett throws a low kick but Kennedy moves out of range easily.

Kennedy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Newlett works his way to full guard. Good work.
Newlett throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Newlett is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kennedy has his hands clasped together but Newlett extends and breaks Kennedy 's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Newlett.
