Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Curtis Rodriquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jako Day!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Good exchange - Day coming out on top.
Rodriquez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A punch combination from Day misses.
It looked like Rodriquez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Day throws a right hand that Rodriquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Rodriquez also avoids with ease.
Jab by Day.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Day duly obliges.
Day works over Rodriquez's head and body with a nice combination.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rodriquez drives through with a takedown into Day's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Rodriquez throwing strikes from guard but Day blocks nicely.

Rodriquez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Day has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rodriquez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Day keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Day thuds his right hand into Rodriquez's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rodriquez or perhaps it was just good defense by Day, which made it look bad.

Day gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodriquez to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rodriquez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Day is wriggling around but Rodriquez manages to pass to half guard.
Day is trying to stand back up but Rodriquez is controlling him

Rodriquez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Day is trying to escape back to his feet but Rodriquez uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Day is not content to let Rodriquez control the position.
Day wants to get back to his feet but Rodriquez drags him back down.
Rodriquez throws an elbow but Day slips to the side and avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodriquez decides to stand back up.

Rodriquez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jako Day dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Day connects with a crisp jab.
Day lands an overhand right.
Curtis Rodriquez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rodriquez is looking to clinch but Day is avoiding it.
A little jabbing left from Day on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Day defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rodriquez.
Day is looking to clinch.
Rodriquez needs to keep his hands up - Day had a free shot at his head there.
Rodriquez ducks under a wild hook from Day.

Day looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rodriquez dodges the punch combination from Day.
A nice combination there by Day.


Rodriquez is rocked!
Day has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Day walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Rodriquez drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Day swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Rodriquez's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
