The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hunter as he avoids it easily. Hunter looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hunter is stalling in the full guard. Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hunter on the ground. Johnson wants to stand up but Hunter is controlling him. Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hunter scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hunter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hunter looking to pass the guard. Hunter wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Johnson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hunter is one step ahead there. Hunter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Hunter tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard. Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Hunter is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hunter seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Johnson is looking to stand up but Hunter isn't so interested in that idea. Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Johnson is breathing heavily. Hunter stands and steps away. Johnson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Johnson throws a body punch but Hunter moves out of range. Hunter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hunter is pushing Johnson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Hunter breaks from the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson tries to clinch but fails miserably and Hunter counters with a head kick. A head kick misses from Hunter. Hunter fails to land the takedown. Johnson misses with a takedown attempt and Hunter counters into the clinch. Nicely done. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for DJ Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hunter works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hunter gets to his feet. Johnson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Johnson blocks a head kick by Hunter.

Hunter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Johnson as he jumps to the side. Hunter forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches. Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hunter seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Hunter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hunter looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter has a closed guard, preventing Johnson from standing up. Hunter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hunter can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape. A nice elbow there by Hunter. Johnson is desperately trying to improve his position but Hunter has a good base and remains in mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hunter controlling from the full mount. Hunter looking for a guillotine from mount but Johnson is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Johnson is trying desperately to improve position. Hunter postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Johnson looks a forlorn figure.
Johnson tries to hold on but Hunter postures up. Hunter stands up from mount. Strange move. Johnson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hunter. Hunter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson is looking for a sweep. Hunter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Johnson is working hard here to advance position. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hunter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hunter moves nicely into side control. Hunter controlling the position. Hunter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Hunter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Johnson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Hunter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hunter has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Johnson regains guard immediately. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Johnson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Despite being in the dominant position, Mark Hunter just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hunter throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Hunter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hunter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
