The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carvalho darts in and clinches Aims up against the cage.

Carvalho wants the takedown. Aims is fighting it off but Carvalho persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Aims's guard against the cage.
Carvalho wants to control from the top but Aims keeps moving.
Aims looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Carvalho advances position into side control!
Aims is not content to let Carvalho control the position.
Carvalho staying calm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carvalho in side control, throwing shots but Aims defends.

Aims tries to improve position but can't.
Carvalho with the ground and pound but Aims regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Carvalho seems to be working for a kimura but Aims defends the submission attempt.
Carvalho is trying to control the action in half guard but Aims is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Carvalho is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Aims is not content to let Carvalho control the position.
Aims wants to improve his position but Carvalho is controlling well.
Carvalho is keen to just control but Aims is a slippery customer.
Carvalho thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Carvalho is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Carvalho is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Aims sees it coming and defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Carvalho has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Aims defend it? Carvalho steps over the head and cranks it - Aims is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Carvalho!
