Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fabricio Werdum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Qi Yinlong! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Werdum with a body punch. A glancing blow. Werdum takes the fight into the clinch. Yinlong looking to slow down the pace here. Werdum is trying to break free. Werdum manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Yinlong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Werdum is keeping the position for now. Yinlong pushing down on Werdum's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Werdum keeping hold of Yinlong's head, controlling as best he can. Yinlong keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Werdum is not content to let Yinlong control the position. Werdum is looking for a sweep. Yinlong is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Yinlong thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Werdum's head. Yinlong seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Werdum does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Werdum pushes Yinlong off and gets back to his feet. Werdum shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Werdum prevents Yinlong from standing back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Werdum perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Yinlong works his way to full guard. Good work. Yinlong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Werdum doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Yinlong is tightening it up a little... Werdum has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Werdum reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Werdum taps out! Nice BJJ there by Yinlong!
